Peace Conference for Middle School Students

Following the Peace Initiatives at schools, an application form was sent to schools to be filled by candidates for the “Peace Ambassador”. USPEaK Team received around 3 applications from each school and decided on the best ambassador according to a set of questions that determine the leadership spirit they have. The conference started with welcoming remarks from the Spelling Bee Project Manager Rawan Yaghi and The Public Affairs Officer at the American Embassy in Beirut, Mrs. Ellen Peterson. Mr. Fadi Abi Allam, the founder and President of Permanent Peace was the guest of honor who gave an interactive keynote speech.  Ms. Yaghi then led a discussion based on a movie the ambassadors watched based on the World War II. The movie shows an initiative of peace between the people of Hiroshima and USA. Students shared their perspectives of the notion of peace and as well as the initiatives of peace in their schools. Miss Nada Toufaily facilitated the discussions and trained them on SMART goals and then decided with the students on how to take their role to the next level.
