Teaching Women English Program Graduates 820 women from 37 Regions

The 11th graduation ceremony was held at the Palace of Conferences in Dbayeh on the 22nd of September, 2019 in the presence of the Cultural Affairs Officer, Ms. Raisa Dukas. The MP, Antoine Habchy, Mayors, partners, INGO Representatives and public figures. Partners from all over Lebanon accompanied the graduates and their teachers. The ceremony started with The Lebanese National Anthem and The American National Anthem. The MC, Nada Toufayli welcomed all the 37 classes who were present and introduced the Cultural Affairs Officer at the U.S. Embassy, Ms. Raisa Dukasand the Program Manager, USPEaK Director, Ms. Rawan Yaghi, in her speech, thanked the U.S. Embassy for the trust in implementing this program and all stakeholders. She stressed in her speech on equal opportunities for women and women empowerment activities related to the project like cultural trainings and skills acquired in CV Writing, entrepreneurship, and debating. She also greeted women who are now contributing the nation’s economy with their new businesses where 67 women found jobs or started a small business. She thanked the teachers for their hard work and addressed partners in Arabic in a wrapping up part.

The CAO, Ms. Raisa Dukas who said that The United States is committed to a bright future for the people of Lebanon, and they see education as the foundation to this future. By learning or improving language skills, Teaching Women English helps to empower women across Lebanon to speak up and break barriers to the full inclusion of andparticipation by women in all social, economic, and political spheres of life.

Dukas and Yaghi cut the cake on stage and then presented trophies to partners and teachers and certificates to learners.
