The National Competition was held at Baakline National Library’s Auditorium. 25 schools were present with principals or their representatives, English Language Coordinators, teachers, the 10 students and the Peace Ambassadors. The event started with the Lebanese and American National Anthems, followed by a speech for the project Manager Ms. Rawan Yaghi who thanked the schools for their trust and the teachers and students for their efforts and stressed on the importance of the modules and the slogan of the project “Bee a Good Citizen”. The Public Affairs Officer, Mrs. Ellen Peterson, made a speech where she stressed on the importance of such projects to the U. S. Embassy and the role of USPEaK in implementation. The competition had four parts: 3 regional competitions for the 10 finalists of Mount Lebanon (Aley and Chouf), 5 finalists of the piloting component in Saida and 10 finalists for Larger Bekaa (North, Central and West) followed by the National Competition of the 25 finalists.
The jury consisted of Mrs. Ellen Peterson, the POA at the US embassy, who pronounced the words, Ms. Rawan Yaghi and Mrs. Hanan Halabi. Mr. Ghazi Saab, the Director of Baakline National Library, joined after the regional competitions and welcomed everyone.
The rules of this day were shared with teachers a couple of days before and we started with 5 rounds of curriculum words followed by 109 words that were shared with students 4 days before and then with a completely new list of words that were not shared with anyone.

The National Competition witnessed 6 rounds from the curriculum and seven rounds from the newly shared words and 6 rounds from the completely new words. IT’s worth to mention that the 1st National winner made no mistakes at all. The National winners are:

A very exquisite trophy was given to the schools that won in the national competition. A cup was given to students, teachers and schools of winners in the national competition as well. Medals were given to students and teachers of regional winners and Medal trophies were given to regional competition school winners. Certificates were distributed to all sharing schools, teachers and the students.
